Minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies

LAC 100 - Introduction to Latin America & Caribbean Studies

An examination of the social, cultural, political, economic, geographical, historical realities of Latin America and the Caribbean. Course readings, discussions, lectures and assignments bring into focus the region’s human diversity as well as regional challenges to state-building, equitable socioeconomic development, and stability.

LAC 404 - Seminar in Oral History: Latin America

An examination of the oral history process in theory and practice, with emphasis on interviewing and transcription technique. Students will be asked to interview New Haven immigrants for their final projects and will study the history of U.S. immigration and New Haven immigration, in particular.
