The Honor's College program outline and graduation requirements for this catalog year are listed below. For more information about admission requirements, faculty biographies, and learning outcomes visit: https://www.southernct.edu/academics/honors-college.
OVERVIEW
First and second-year students admitted into the Honors College program will enroll
in Level
One: Honors Foundations, a series of interdisciplinary courses and seminars; and Level
Two:
Honors Explorations, culminating in an Honors College Capstone experience. The Honors
Program affords students a meaningful and intentional course of study alongside a
student's
chosen major, culminating in the completion of an Honors College capstone project.
Honors
College students work with an HON faculty advisor to develop a program of advanced
study
across disciplines that will broaden their perspective and deepen their understanding
of issues
related to their capstone experience.
Honors College students must also complete an academic major and all the requirements
of
that major. Students in the Honors College may select a major in any department and
may be
enrolled in any school or college of the University. Honors College students must
complete the
same requirements set by their major as would students not in the Honors College.
The HON course sequence satisfies most of the general education requirements for a
bachelor's degree program, including the writing-intensive courses and the liberal
education
program (LEP), except for the Quantitative Reasoning requirement appropriate to their
major
and the Multilingual Communication requirement. It is imperative that Honors College
students confer with an adviser in their major to determine if any additional LEP
requirements
normally covered by the Honors College curriculum are required.
