HIS 376 - Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic Age

Exploration of Alexander the Great’s conquest of the Persian Empire and the rise of the Hellenistic kingdoms until the advent of Rome (ca. 404 B.C.E.–31 B.C.E.). Topics include the fall of the Greek polis, the formation of the Hellenistic manarchies, and “Hellenism” (Greek Culture) within the contexts of Macedonia, the Near East, Egypt, and Central Asia. Lecture format with periodic discussion/debates on various histriographic issues.

Prerequisite(s): HIS 100 plus 6 additional credits of HIS.
