The graduation requirements are listed below. In addition, students select free electives to reach 120 credits overall required for the degree. GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (46 Credits)

All bachelor’s degree programs include liberal education (LEP) and writing (W) course requirements. To review more detailed information, please visit General Education (LEP) Degree Requirements.   

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS (35 Credits)

(*) When up to three courses in the major/cognate may also satisfy LEP requirements, they are recommended below; only two courses within Explorations (T2) may be fulfilled by courses in the same subject.  

Major GPA 3.0 required.

CMD 201 – Introduction to Communication Disorders: Medical Settings
CMD 203 – Phonetics and Phonological Systems
CMD 317 – Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism
CMD 319 – Language Development: Ages Birth to Five
CMD 320 – Introduction to Hearing Science
CMD 321 – Introduction to Audiology
CMD 418 – Neurological Bases of Communication
CMD 419 – Language Acquisition: School Age-Adolescence
CMD 420 – Speech Science
CMD 461 – Clinical Practice of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology 

Non-Course Requirement:
Additionally, students must complete a minimum of 25 observation hours of practicing speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Mind and Body Cognate: ANT 224, PCH 201, PSY 100, or SOC 265 (T2MB)*
Natural World I Cognate: CHE 103, CHE 120, PHY 100, PHY 101, PHY 200, PHY 210, or PHY 230 (T2PR)*
Natural World II Cognate: BIO 100, BIO 120, BIO 200 (T2LE)*

Two additional courses in the social/behavioral sciences in psychology, sociology, anthropology, or public health (courses used to satisfy the Liberal Education Program may be used to satisfy this requirement).  For an updated list of acceptable courses, please consult with the CMD Undergraduate Adviser.
