Transfer Course Policy for Current Students

Current degree-seeking students, who plan to take courses at another institution must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0, and receive prior approval to apply the transfer credit(s) towards their program requirements at Southern. Only courses completed at regionally accredited colleges or universities with grades of "C-" or better can be transferred.

Students will not receive duplicate credit for any course in which they have already earned credit.  Transfer grades are not included in Southern's calculation of grade point average (GPA); therefore, transfer courses may also not be used for grade placement.

Note: Students who will not be concurrently registered for any courses at Southern must also submit a Leave of Absence form to maintain matriculation status while attending another institution.

PROCEDURE

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER CREDIT

For international institutions not recognized by a regional accreditor, graduate-level courses must be from an institution approved by a quality assurance body and/or Ministry of Education authorized to operate by their respective government.

Students must provide a certified evaluation of foreign transcripts and credentials (course by course with grades) from a NACES approved organization (naces.org), including a copy of the transcript being evaluated. Students are responsible for payment of fees charged by these agencies.
