Reading and Language Arts Consultant, Post-Master's Certificate (Hybrid)

This is an educator preparation program in the State of Connecticut with additional admission requirements (see Admissions>>Teacher/Educator Preparation Programs). Candidates recommended for certification must also meet any additional Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) requirements (see Degree Requirements>>Teacher/Educator Preparation Programs) in effect on the date CSDE receives the certification application.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS (12 CREDITS)
RDG 762 – Developing and Leading the School Literacy Program
RDG 772 – Designing and Implementing the School Literacy Intervention Program
RDG 776 – Practicum in Developing and Leading the School Literacy Program
Students will take a fourth course by advisement that has not been previously completed
and applied towards another graduate degree:
- RDG 616 –Examining Content, Culture, and Current Events through Children's and Young Adult Literature is for students coming into the program having taken a research practicum in their master's program and RDG 671.
- RDG 671 – Diversity in Literacy is for students coming into the program having taken a research practicum in their master's program.
- RDG 765 – Practicum and Seminar in Reading and Language Arts Research is for students coming into the program having not taken a research practicum in their master's program.
Please note: This program is not eligible for financial aid (Title IV and/or State funds) and it is not a VA approved program. This means that veterans or other eligible persons will not be able to use VA benefits to supplement the cost of this program.
