Post-Baccalaureate Science Education 7-12, Educator Preparation Program

Students are accepted for the fall, spring and summer semesters. Applicants may complete up two courses (with advisement) as a non-matriculated student while in the application process.
Secondary School Science Teacher Certification
Students may obtain certification in biology, physics, chemistry or earth science. Students with undergraduate degrees in science or other disciplines are welcome. Courses are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Interested students are encouraged to contact the department for advisement and to schedule a meeting to review student's transcripts.
Please refer to the section entitled "Admission to Post-Baccalaureate Educator Preparation Programs" in the beginning of this catalog for admission standards and requirements. Applicants who have completed all required science content coursework will need to complete the following courses. (No more than two courses may be taken before acceptance into the School of Education.)

As sequencing changes, it is highly recommended that students meet with their program advisor to finalize a list of requirements for graduation.
SED 482 – Teaching Exceptions Students in the Classroom – 3 credits
EDF 520 – 526 (Choose one) – 3 credits
SCE 490 – Methods/Curriculum in Secondary Schools – 3 credits
SCE 494 – Secondary School Student Teaching – 8 credits
SCE 496 – Student Teaching Seminar – 1 credits
Note: Students must be accepted into the Graduate School AND the School of Education before taking SCE 490, SCE 494, and SCE 496
Other Requirements/ Conditions
HIS 110 – U.S. History – 3 credits
SHE 203 – School Health – 3 credits
IDS 470 – Literacy in the Content Area – 1.5 credits
IDS 471 – English Language Learners in the Classroom – 1.5 credits
