The Intermediate Administrator Certification Program

The Intermediate Administrator (092) Certification Program is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be  administrators in Connecticut's schools in positions ranging from Assistant Principal up to, and including, Assistant Superintendent.

Application Requirements

Admission to this certification program is selective and limited. Each candidate is interviewed by a member of the faculty.

Program Sequence

21 Credits

The program consists of 21 credits (8 courses) with a few additional requirements and generally takes two to two and one half years to complete.  Courses are offered during the academic year and the summer.  Courses are offered on the SCSU campus and also in certain districts through our "cohort" programs

As sequencing changes, it is highly recommended that students meet with their program advisor to finalize a list of requirements for graduation.  

Students must maintain an Overall GPA and a Program GPA of a 3.2 or higher.

EDL 680 – Leadership Perspective – 3 credits
EDL 681 – The Politics of School Administration – 3 credits
EDL 684 – Learning Theory into Practice – 3 credits
EDL 685 – Curriculum Development – 3 credits
EDL 683 – Supervision/Staff Development – 3 credits
EDL 687 – Internship I – 1.5 credits
EDL 682 – Organizational Development – 3 credits
EDL 688 – Internship II – 1.5 credits
EDL 664 – Technology for Ed. Administrators – 3 credits
