Course Withdrawal

Students considering withdrawing from a course are strongly encouraged to consult with their instructor and academic advisor. These discussions can help assess academic progress and explore alternatives for successful course completion before making a final decision. A ‘W’ grade does not affect the grade point average (GPA); but it may impact:

To receive a withdrawn ‘W’ grade, students must officially withdraw before the end of the 12th week of classes. For courses offered in shorter terms, refer to the withdrawal deadlines on the academic calendar. To be eligible for any refund of tuition and fees, students must withdraw by the refund deadline.

Once the course withdrawal is received by the Registrar’s office, students will receive an automatic email communication. This initiates a 2-business day advising/intervention period. If a student believes the withdrawal was made in error, they may request reinstatement with the Registrar’s Office within this 2-day window.

Late Course Withdrawal

Students may request a Late Course Withdrawal from their instructor before final exam week in the fall and spring semester, and up to the last day of classes in summer and winter sessions. If a student misses this deadline due to extraordinary circumstances, they must contact the Dean for the college or school offering the course. The Dean’s approval is required for any extension of the late course withdrawal deadline.
